Energy Department awards Texas a new round of stimulus funds - San Antonio Business Journal:

The funds will be used to increas e energy efficiency and expand the use of renewable energy in thepublicc sector, while also providing information resources to help residents achievre energy, emissions and cost savings. As part of the Energy Department’s Stimulus Weatherization Texas willreceive $130.8 million over the next thres years to help weatherize homes. The money will be funnelexd through the Texas Department of Housing and Community Texas also willreceive $87.5 millionn in stimulus funding that can be used towarf demonstration projects for solar, wind, biomasds and geothermal energy technologies.
A separate progranm will make stimulus funds available for hospitals and other publix entities to modernize traffic signals and facilitate the wider deploymenty ofalternative fuels. U.S. Rep. Charliwe Gonzalez, D-San Antonio, says this fundinhg will help create jobs and accelerate the adoptio of efficient and renewableenergty technologies. “This funding will help move Texas towards a clean energy future and enhance our while keeping costs low for the hard workinhg families inour communities,” Gonzale says.
