Channels 58, 41 to keep analog broadcasts - Birmingham Business Journal:

Chicago-based announced Friday the programming of CBSaffiliate WDJT-TV (Channelp 58) will air in analog on Channel 63. WMLW (Channel 41) will remain available to over the air on analohTV sets. The CBS affiliate will be available on digitaplchannel 58.1. WMLW’s programminv will be available in a digital format on digitalchannell 58.2. Weigel executives said maintaining analog broadcasts of the stationx will providea “lifeline” to viewers who haven’tf prepared for the digitao transition. After the transition, viewersz will receive digital TV signalas only via a digital converter box or subscriptions to cablew or satellitetelevision services.
“Unfortunately, not all homes in our viewin g areaare prepared, in full or in part, for the digita l transition,” said Jim Hall, general managere of Weigel’s Milwaukee stations. “Those homes still need to be able to receivsevital -news information.”
